Out with the old, in with the new. Not a choice I wanted to make, but it needs to be done.
Over the past few weeks I haven’t been out shooting much. On the other hand, I have worked on my photography, just in the form of redesigning my site using the new SmugMug.
Front Page of My New Site
SmugMug recently released their all new customizations last year and as a result, my site, although still supported, was in need of shifting to the new Smug. So I was in no hurry until a small disaster.
As I was working on getting my menu to look properly when I posted few questions to the customization forum. I had already published the rough site just to get it done. So I posted the link to my site in the question.
What happened after posting the questions infuriated me. I started receiving messages that the link to my site was going to a parked page. My domain at GoDaddy expired.
So I had to buy it again, but when I tried, it was an extra $160. Rather than spend that, I bought http://www.paulconrad.photography and reset my website. It worked out as I thought my domain was a bit long anyway.
Because of the new SmugMug coding, my old HTML and CSS really didn’t work that well and so I had to reformat pages and galleries. It still needs some tweaking, but at least it’s “mostly” done.
Another bonus was making my header a bit smaller and cleaner. It was a tad large and I would get notes from certain folks about it being annoying.

The Second Redesign:

The last one is my fave. Of course with everything else in life, change will need to happen eventually.
My bio/about and information pages had to be redone. The old CSS wasn’t working so I had to rebuild the code. Ugh. Not fun, but necessary.
Good thing is could rewrite some of it and add new photos. There’s always an upside.
Sample of my New Info Pages:
On top of all this, some Japanese site bought the domain and now anything with “pabloconradphotography(dot)com” in it is directing people to that site. Including all the embed links I use for this blog. Not only that, all my social sites need changing.
I’m still working on it piece by piece. Hopefully it gets all worked out. Please visit the site and check for any mistakes, broken links, typos, or coding errors.
Watermark Changes:
This watermark is a work in progress. I want it unobtrusive, yet there if anyone wants to know who shot the photo.
Thank you for stopping by to read and view my work. Feel free to comment, critique, or just ask questions.
Also, feel free to share and reblog, link to, and add your site in the comment section.
