Northwest SilverStars Exhibit Athleticism and Coordination

Last Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, I had the pleasure of photographing the 2016 Cheerfest sponsored by the Northwest SilverStars. The demonstration is the capstone from a week of Mini Cheer Camp hosted by Hailey Rio.

The demonstration lasted about 2 hours with cheerleading squads from Lynden High School, Meridian High School, Mt. Vernon High School, Sehome High School, and the Northwest SilverStars. A crowd of nearly 300 watched the demonstrations.

It was interesting to watch the athleticism of the cheerleaders. There were a few boys in a couple of the squads. Observing them, they melded with the team and were actually entertaining and enlightening.

The Tinies, little girls about kindergarten age, were a treat. Totally uncoordinated but in a masterfully cute way. Half the time they were watching their parents and not performing. But, that’s what kids do. It was almost impossible to get names.

Flipping In –

Also, I had to shoot video. My video skills sort suck at the moment. Especially since I can’t afford to get good editing software like Adobe Premier Pro. And I don’t know about spending money on something I may use about once every two weeks.

Here’s a link to the video if you’d like to spend a minute watching a roughly edited movie: 2016 Cheerfest Hosted by the Northwest SilverStars.

As a reminder, I have designed a 2017 calendar for sale. It’s $20 and features beautiful scenes from around Bellingham: The Beauty of Bellingham & Whatcom County 2017 Calendar.
