Starting a new habit/feature/entry which highlights my favorite images of the month. I think it’d be good for editors and other art directors to go directly to blogs with just photos, and especially ones that showcase my skills and talents.
Locust Beach Mudflats –
© Paul Conrad/Pablo Conrad Photography – The setting Sun is reflected off the mudflats of Bellingham Bay during low at Locust Beach in Bellingham, Wash. I wanted to photograph the sunset with the ripple patterns and get the pilings on this beach as well. But I couldn’t get a good alignment with all three in the frame.
Roadside Tulips –
© Paul Conrad/Pablo Conrad Photography – Dew dappled tulips along the Mount Baker Highway, Washington 542, in Glacier, Wash. Waiting for a real estate client, I saw these tulips. As I was leaning against my car, I liked how the colors of the roses complemented the grass lit by the rising Sun.
Seeking a Silver Lining –
© Paul Conrad/The Bellingham Herald – Barbara Forss of Ferndale assesses the markings on silver flatware to decide if it is sterling during the Antiques and Collectibles Evaluation Event at the Bellingham Senior Activities Center on Saturday afternoon April 11, 2015, in Bellingham, Wash. As I was shooting something else, I noticed how she was studying every detail of the flatware. I like the tight shot with the focus on her eyes.
Looking for the Sweet Spot –
© Paul Conrad/The Bellingham Herald – Bellingham pitcher Brad Johnson tosses to Ferndale in varsity boys baseball at Ferndale High School in Ferndale, Wash., on Monday afternoon March, 30, 2015. After cropping in to about 1/4th the frame, this image popped out. I first noticed how the ball is close, and you can make out the batter.
Safe or Out? –
© Paul Conrad/The Bellingham Herald – Bellingham shortstop Austin Shenton (24), right, fields a throw as Ferndale third baseman Kyler Brudwick (5) slides safely into second base during the 4th inning at Ferndale High School in Ferndale, Wash., on Monday afternoon March, 30, 2015. Brudwick was called safe as Shenton bobbled the ball. Sometimes you get lucky. I knew there would be a play at 2nd, did not expect this though.
© Paul Conrad/The Bellingham Herald – Ferndale outfielder Kyle Sandstrom (4), left, pleads with the umpire after being tagged out at home by Bellingham catcher Dante Check (18) during the fifth inning at Ferndale High School in Ferndale, Wash., on Monday afternoon March, 30, 2015. Sandstorm was called out by the umpire. I had the complete sequence, But the ump’s butt was in the way. I like how you can tell the umpire called and out, and the kid is pleading with him.
Winning Celebration –
© Paul Conrad/The Bellingham Herald – Team Fairhaven Toy Garden members Dante Koplovitz-Fleming, left, and Colin Bigalow, give each other a celebratory hug after winning the Piano Race during the 13th annual Dirty Dan Harris Festival at the Fairhaven Village Green in Fairhaven, Wash., on Sunday April 26, 2015. This just reminded me of a reaction shot by a sports team winning a big game.
© Paul Conrad/The Bellingham Herald – Juan Alten, 12, of Bellingham, Wash., attempts to devour his donut during the Rocket Donuts donut eating contest of the 13th annual Dirty Dan Harris Festival at the Fairhaven Village Green in Fairhaven, Wash., on Sunday April 26, 2015. What can I say, a kid scarfing down a donut in an eating contest.
Jim “Dirty” Rich –
© Paul Conrad/The Bellingham Herald – Jim “Dirty” Rich sits next to the Daniel Jefferson Harris sculpture on the Fairhaven Village Green during the 13th annual Dirty Dan Harris Festival in Fairhaven, Wash., on Sunday April 26, 2015. A cool portrait of a local citizen.
Rialto Beach in Blue –
© Paul Conrad/Pablo Conrad Photography – The surf of the Pacific Ocean breaks against rock formations near Hole in the Wall north of Rialto Beach in La Push along the western Washington coast. When I first shot this, I played with the duotone setting on my camera. I loved how it looked. So I pulled the raw file into Photoshop and created it there.
Pacific Sunset –
© Paul Conrad/Pablo Conrad Photography – The Sun sets by a rock formation in the Pacific Ocean off Rialto Beach along the western Washington coast near La Push. the western Washington coast near La Push. Just like the positioning of the island, Sun, reflection, and waves.
That’s Gotta Hurt –
© Paul Conrad/Pablo Conrad Photography – Mount Baker midfielder Jon Ehlers (12) heads the ball away from Meridian forward Alan Eyoub (11) during the first half at Mount Baker High School in Deming, Wash., on Saturday afternoon April 25, 2015.This was right before the foot made contact. Ouch.
© Paul Conrad/Pablo Conrad Photography – Mount Baker midfielder Taylor Bruntil (4), right, jumps for the ball as Meridian midfielder Jake Birnel (10) takes a free kick and scores during the 9th minute of the second half at Mount Baker High School in Deming, Wash., on Saturday afternoon April 25, 2015. Birnel scored on the kick tying the score 2 to 2 as Meridian went on to defeat Mount Baker 4 to 2 with all 4 goals in the second half. As I usually stay at one end while shooting soccer, that way I can get good defense/offense action. I did not expect to be in the right alignment for this free kick that resulted in a score.
Mid Air Collision –
© Paul Conrad/Pablo Conrad Photography – Meridian forward Alan Eyoub (11), left, and Mount Baker defensive man Zane Smith (17) battle for a corner kick during the second half at Mount Baker High School in Deming, Wash., on Saturday afternoon April 25, 2015. Meridian defeated Mount Baker 4 to 2 with all 4 goals in the second half. The kid on the left was trying to head it for a goal. It hit the upright.
