Wondering About My Lack Of Tweets?

***UPDATE:

My account is no longer suspended. But in dealing with Twitter, I came to understand it was the way I did my Follow Fridays.  According to Twitter, it was a TOS violation due to “posting multiple unrelated updates to a trending or popular topic.”

Here’s the e-mail stating restoration:

delbius, May-30 12:26 pm (PDT):

Hello,

Your account was suspended for posting multiple unrelated updates to a trending or popular topic, which is a violation of the Twitter Rules. You can find the more information about Trending Topics here:

http://support.twitter.com/articles/101125

I have now unsuspended your account. Repeat violations may result in permanent suspension.

Thank you,

delbius

The Twitter Rules: http://support.twitter.com/entries/18311

Their robots discovered my “unlawful” tweets and suspended my account. It twitter took actual time to look through my stream, there would be no argument and my account wouldn’t be suspended.

But if you say curse words, trash other people, or actually send SPAM, that’s OK. As long as you “follow the rules.”

So without delay, my account has been restored and I can now post the who, what, where, when, why, & how.

What you see when you go to my page.

My account @pabloconrad has been suspended. I have no reason why.

And in an apparent violation of their own policy, Twitter failed to send me a notice of suspension.

There’s has been no indication as to why. My first thought reading through their TOS is the way I do my Follow Fridays.

If it’s that, I’ll be angry, very angry. But what can one do besides kiss their ass and play by their game.

Here’s an example of how I do my Follow Fridays:

#FF @lazybeard A cool Seattle #tog with some super nice images Colby Perry: http://www.flickr.com/photos/colbyp  & http://lazybeard.wordpress.com

The traditional, and lame, way of doing these is to simply write #FF and the the usernames. That’s fine and dandy, but, it’s very boring and uninfromative. Example:

#FF @pabloconrad @skyfirephoto @lazybeard @cornforthimages @pwcarey @heidirae22 @caringhands

At least my way you have a who, why, and a link to their website. Not everyone wants to follow photojournalist, or even photographers.

Hopefully, Twitter sends me an e-mail explaining.

The bad thing is, you can have someone complain about you one time and get suspended.

This to me is very unproductive.

Well, for now, I have nothing to distract me so maybe I can get caught up on my blog and promotion packs I’m mailing to editors.

Thanks for stopping by and reading.

  1. Pablo,
At the same time, I suddenly had lost all my followers and those that I was following. My Twitter page was just a blank page asking me to poke around looking for friends, as, currently, I had none! I had to dig up my follower’s page and “unfollow” then, count to a thousand and then “refriend” them . I have no idea why, either. I use a lot of the same protocol on my #FF Fridays sending along url’s and a brief description of who, what, why. Keep us in the loop.

    1. Ahhhhh, so that’s why I was told you were a new follower.

Yeah, I can’t believe it’s over that. I hope it’s not over sending to many links. I know so many other people that send out about 30 per minute and it gets annoying.

It better be something serious. Like I would know anyway.

      Thanks Geroge.

  2. Wow, I’m impressed! I’ve never known anyone to get suspended on Twitter! ;). I’ve been put on notice at Facebook a few times for adding too many friends at once but who hasn’t? LOL.

On a serious note, hope it gets straightened out soon. We miss you on Twitter and I agree, your FF is way more informative.

  3. That is crazy. Twitter can be a challenge in and of it self sometimes. I almost never use Twitter from the site (Tweetdeck mostly) because the site seems to do all kinds of strange stuff. Have you tried a desktop app for connecting to your account? Just curious if it is really the account or yet another Twitter glitch.

  4. Wow. So racist, sexist and homophobic pages PLUS sex spam, and people trying to sell product spam can stay but you can’t? Twitter needs to tighten up. They are acting like Facebook right now. LOL.

    Glad you are back!

    1. Thanks Trudy.

Yeah, I couldn’t believe it. I’ve seen the f-bomb multiple times, see people tweet 10 times per minute, get spam sent via DM, and yet these accounts are still active.

In my opine, their excuse was lame. Very lame. They need to add a buffer. Have someone look at accounts before suspending them.

But what can one do except kiss the butt of a monstrosity such as Twitter.

Thanks Trudy and have a great day.
