Just an FYI, I had one of my photos featured on Photogrill. Special thanks to Craig Sillitoe for letting me be a special guest.
The site is really cool as it takes an image and dissects it. From why the photographer took it, to what special technique he used.
Site owner Craig Sillitoe, photojournalist for The Age in Melbourne, NSW, has guest photographers submit images where he picks one and has the photographer discuss the who, what, when, where, why, & how.
It’s a very good site with a lot information and it’s a great teaching tool.
The photo of cross country skier Noah Hoffman as he bolts out of the start area was the image I was interviewed about. A photo that I used the simple technique of panning to capture. And also a lot of luck. Read more about how I captured it here: Photographing Snow, Keeping it Fresh.
The skier in the photo is now on the U.S. Ski Team. Which increases the value of the image.
I’m currently writing a guest post for Jacob Lewis Photography on why I am a photojournalist. What drives me to jump out of bed to dash to a fire scene, or spend hours at a senior center, or wait in the rain for hours on end at a Klu Klux Klan rally. Or traipse through the mud after Hurricane Katrina.
It’s not hard writing it, what’s difficult is choosing 5 images to go with the article.
This should be up in the next week or so. Stay tuned.
Thanks for stopping by and keep capturing those images.
