The waterfront of Seattle, Wash., was filled with fans of the hit Discovery Channel reality show Deadliest Catch on Saturday April 9, 2011. The 2nd annual Catch Con drew in fans from all over the U.S. Some coming as far away as Maine and Florida.
Some of these rabid fans waited in line from as early as 4 a.m. although the doors opened at noon at the Bell Harbor Conference Center. The fishing vessels F/V Northwestern and F/V Wizard were docked next to the conference center.
Fans tested their crabbing skills with games such as crab sorting, buoy catching, emergency gear donning, and trap baiting. But many came to see the stars of the show, the ship’s captains and crew.
Captains Sig Hansen, Johnathon and Andy Hillstrand, “Wild” Bill Wichrowski, Keith Colburn, along with new captains Elliott Neese and Scott Campbell. Jr., signed autographs and had a Q & A session with the fans.
During the time of the Q & A session, a loud roar could be hear outside. A large door opened and in rode Paul Teutul, Sr., with American Chopper riding a “Deadliest Catch” custom made chopper.
Then the captains picked 5 fans each to become crew members for a day and participate in a relay race.
A fun time was had by all.
Enjoy the slide show.
